Privacy Policy at Yorke Institute

  1. Collection - We will collect only the information necessary for research, record management or statistical analysis.  The individual will be told the purposes for which the information is collected
  2. Use and disclosure - Personal information will not be used or disclosed for a secondary purpose unless the individual has consented or a prescribed exception applies
  3. Data quality - We will take all reasonable steps to make sure that the personal information it collects, uses or discloses is accurate, complete and up to date
  4. Data Security - We will take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information it holds from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure
  5. Openness - We will document how they manage personal information and when asked by an individual, will explain the information it holds, for what purpose and how it collects, holds, uses and discloses the information
  6. Access and correction - The individual will be given access to the information held except to the extent that prescribed exceptions apply. We will correct and update information errors described by the individual
  7. Unique Identifiers - Commonwealth Government identifiers (Medicare number or tax file number) will only be used for the purposes for which they were issued. We will not assign unique identifiers except where it is necessary to carry out its functions efficiently
  8. Anonymity - Wherever possible, Yorke Institute will provide the opportunity for the individual to interact with them without identifying themselves
  9. Trans-border Data Flows - The individual’s privacy protections apply to the transfer of personal information out of Australia
  10. Sensitive Information - We will seek the consent of the individual when collecting sensitive information about the individual such as health information, or information about the individual’s racial or ethnic background, or criminal record.

 

Privacy policy relating to students' personal details

Yorke Institute requires students to maintain personal details and information to meet with the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (Cth) (the ESOS Act) and the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education. The authority for Yorke Institute to collect this information is governed by the ESOS Act, the Education Services for Overseas Students Regulations 2001 (Cth) and the National Code.

Use of Students' Personal Details

 

Yorke Institute may be required to provide personal information about students to:

  • Commonwealth and State agencies, and
  • Fund Manager of the ESOS Assurance Fund.
  • The Department under Section 19 of the ESOS Act 2000, to inform about changes to the
  • Student's enrolment, and any breach by the student of a Student Visas condition relating to attendance or satisfactory academic performance.
  • The Australian Department of Education, Science and Training(DEST) within 14 days of
  • accepting an International Student of details of each Student, including:
  • Full name, gender, date of birth, nationality and country of birth
  • Amount of money paid before confirmation of enrolment
  • Whether premium has been paid for health insurance
  • An estimate of the total amount the Student is required to pay to undertake the course
  • The number of the visa if the Student holds an Australian visa
  • The office where the Student's application for a Student Visa was made/is expected to be made
  • The student's Passport Number if the Student was in Australia when he/she became an accepted Student
  • The CRICOS course code
  • Any English language proficiency test undertaken and the score achieved
  • Starting date
  • Day accepted student is expected to complete the course
  • Termination of studies by an accepted student before completion of the course
  • Changes to identity or duration of any accepted student's course
  • Any other prescribed matters.

 

Students must therefore inform changes to their personal details with the Student Administration Officer or delegate staff immediately or within 7 days of their occurrence to enable us to update this information in PRISMS or our data management system.
