Course Descriptor
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to work as a Dental Technician. During the course, students will learn how to design, construct, modify and repair dental prostheses and appliances, such as dentures, bridges, crowns and mouth guards.
The course also fosters important work skills, such as communication and business techniques. After successful completion of this course, students will receive the Diploma of Dental Technology, and graduates of the course will be qualified dental technicians.
Pathways
Depending on particular state/territory legislation and regulations the qualification may need to be combined with the specified periods of clinical practice before the graduate can work as a Dental Technician. Successful completion of this qualification is a prerequisite to Advanced Diploma of Dental Prosthetics.
Entry Requirements
Students must be 18 years old and above to study at Yorke Institute.
Students must meet English language requirements of IELTS testing score of 5.5 or TOEFL score of 550 or Satisfactory completion of ELICOS at upper intermediate level.
Students must meet Academic requirement with Completion of Secondary Studies in home country equivalent to Australian Year 12 qualification or Completion of a Year 12 in Australia or Completion of a recognised foundation course in Australia or other countries with a pass in all subjects.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy requirements for this qualification
This qualification requires students to be able to converse in English with colleagues and customers in pressurised situations and to be able to make basic presentations. They need to be able to read and write English at a level that will allow them to interpret basic text and write reports.
