Entry Requirements for Overseas Students

English Language and Academic Requirements

Choose one from each category

 

Category 1

Category 2

IELTS testing score of 5.5, or TOEFL score of 550

Completion of Secondary Studies in home country equivalent to Australian Year 12 qualification

Satisfactory completion of ELICOS at upper intermediate level

Completion of a Year 12 in Australia

Completion of a recognised foundation course in Australia or other countries with a pass in all subjects

 

 

Entry Requirements for Local Students

•Australian Year 11 or through relevant work experience that demonstrates ability to complete the chosen course for Certificate III and IV level.
• Australian Year 12 for Diploma courses.
• Selection is not based purely on academic performance. Relevant work experience, work samples will be considered

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT)


Recognition of prior learning (RPL) acknowledges skills, knowledge and understanding gained as a result of previous study, work and/or life experience. This is a method approved under the Australian Qualification Framework, to establish your competency against a set of national standards using a range of alternative assessment criteria. Credit Transfer (CT) assesses qualifications and statements of attainment issued by any other Registered Training Organisation (RTO).  Applying for RPL or CT on your enrolment, may shorten your course of studies. Application for RPL and CT at Yorke Institute is free of charge.

Enrolment at Yorke Institute


To lodge an application to study at Yorke Institute you are required to complete our application form and pay $200.00 AU

 

Application Process

1) Download the Application form (link to Application form) from our web site or ask your agent to provide you with one

2) Read the application form including the conditions of enrolment carefully

3) Sign the application form and make a copy for yourself

4) Lodge your application by sending the application form with your $200.00 application Fee and the supporting evidence (Certified supporting documentation)
Certified supporting documentation must be attached to your signed application form.

This must include:
• Passport with the page containing your photo
• All academic qualifications including High School qualifications such as Year 12 (or equivalent)
• IELTS score of at least 5.5 or other forms of English test results

NOTE: If your IELTS score is below 5.5, we will provide you with an application form from an ELICOS provider to assess your English level. You will be required to undertake an English placement test by the provider to determine your level of English.

 

5) Successful applicants will receive a letter of offer from Yorke Institute, stating that the applicant has been offered a place to study, details of course fees, OSHC and application costs payable to confirm your place.

A Student Agreement will be sent along with the letter of offer outlining the conditions of enrolment and the payment plan. Refer to the payment methods below
Make sure to read the information carefully before you sign. 

6) Once the conditions set out in the letter of offer are met, the enrolment is confirmed and a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) will be issued.

7) Your application for a student visa should be lodged with the COE and other supporting documents. Please refer to the DIAC web site www.immi.gov.au

8) Once you are granted your student visa, finalise your travel/accommodation arrangement and inform Yorke about the day of your arrival in Australia by sending an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

9) Make sure to be here for your orientation day as stated in your letter of offer which will be sent to you directly via the email or post, or through your agent.

Things You will need to do before you leave your country to study in Australia

We have made a checklist of items to prepare and/or bring to Australia as a guide. It lists the action and documents to arrange before you commence your studies at Yorke Institute in Australia.

Arrange student visa
Arrange for immunisations and medications from your doctor
Apply for a credit card and/or arrange sufficient funds 
Confirm overseas access to your funds with your bank
Make travel arrangements
Arrange travel insurance 
Advise institution of travel details
Arrange accommodation
Arrange transport from airport to accommodation (if applicable)
Pack your bags and be sure to include the following:

Name and contact details of a representative from Yorke Institute

Enough currency for taxis, buses, phone calls etc. in the event of an emergency
Don't forget important documents such as:
 Passport
 Letter of offer
 COEs
 Certified copies of qualifications & certificates
 Travel insurance policy
 ID cards, drivers license, birth certificate (or copy)…………………………………… … 


Make sure you leave any originals or copies of these documents safely with family in your home country in case of loss of documents.

  

Student Personal Details

Yorke Institute requires students to maintain personal details and information to meet with the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (Cth) (the ESOS Act) and the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education.
The authority for Yorke Institute to collect this information is governed by the ESOS Act, the Education Services for Overseas Students Regulations 2001 (Cth) and the National Code.

We will only disclose your personal information if you provide Yorke Institute with a written request or where the law permits or requires us to do so. In these circumstances, the minimum amount of information required or requested will be disclosed.
Personal information may also be shared with the Australian Government, designated authorities, the Tuition Assurance Scheme and the ESOS Assurance Fund Manager. This information may include but not limited to personal and contact details, course enrolment details and changes and circumstances of any suspected breach by the student of a student visa condition

NOTE: Students must inform changes to their personal details to the Student Administration Officer immediately or within seven (7) days of their occurrence to enable us to update this information in PRISMS or Yorke’s data management system.

Students are required to:
- Conduct themselves in appropriate manners
- Keep satisfactory academic progress
- Maintain current contact details with Yorke
- Pay fees on time

Conditions of Enrolment

The course


Yorke Institute reserves the right to accept or reject at its discretion, any application for enrolment in a course.
Yorke Institute does not guarantee that every unit will be offered in any particular term.
Units offered in any term are subject to change.

Students will be enrolled into the first academic term of study.
Yorke Institute reserves the right to change or replace trainers at any time, cancel a course or unit prior to commencement of each term and make changes to the syllabus or timetable at any time.

 

Course Fees


Course fee may be increased annually or at the discretion of Yorke Institute.
International students are required to pay fees at the time of accepting an offer of a place to study at Yorke Institute, paid in advance of a semester.
Fees must be paid in advance, before the start of the semester or by the due dates under an agreed payment plan. Failure to comply with the terms of your payment plan may result in termination of a place of offer or enrolment at the Institute or suspension of studies.
Note: Cancellation on grounds of non-payment of course fees will be reported to DIAC
Before a unit can be repeated, the course fees in relation to the unit must be paid in full regardless of any fees that may have been paid in advance for other units.
If a visa status changes for an overseas student (e.g. becomes a temporary or permanent resident) the student will continue to pay full overseas student’s fees for the duration of the enrolled program as stipulated in the Student Agreement.
